5 Reasons to Shop Preloved

In case you missed it, shopping preloved is trending! But that’s not why you should start. Embracing preloved, isn’t just a choice, it’s a conscious celebration of style with a story.

I’ve been shopping preloved for years and my wardrobe is a curated collection of second-hand treasures, complemented by thoughtfully chosen sustainable pieces and pieces I’ve had for years. An eclectic mix of designer pieces and brands I only once dreamt of owning.

I remember the first time I stumbled on a piece I’d only once lusted over and could now afford it.  I quickly realised if I was prepared to wait few a seasons, I could own those designer items at a fraction of the price. And that is where my passion for preloved started.

Here are 5 reasons you should make the shift:

Quality Pieces at Affordable Prices

Embracing preloved fashion started as a practical choice for me many years ago. It was the only way I could afford the pieces I really wanted to wear. Over time, I’ve come to appreciate the remarkable quality and affordability preloved pieces offer. Looking back, I’m astounded that I used to wait for sales or compromise on pieces I didn’t love just to fit my budget.

Style over Trends

When you shop preloved your intuition leads the way. It's all about discovering pieces that resonate with you - whether it be the colour, the design, the print or even a beloved brand. There's a thrill in stumbling upon those one-of-a-kind gems that ignite your style, promise to spark conversations and tell a story.

Creativity over Perfection

Once I found my preloved rhythm, I discovered a newfound creativity in how I approached styling my outfits. The pressure of 'getting it right' faded away, replaced by the exploration of how each piece could be uniquely tailored to fit my personal style. Each item is a canvas, waiting for its next chapter. Take the opportunity to be the storyteller.

Fashion with Heart

Whether it be a charity, social enterprise or small business the money you spend shopping preloved is generally going back into the community and supporting organisations and people who are working hard not only in community support but diverting waste from landill. Fashion with a purpose is a beautiful thing!

The Planet

It goes without saying, but every time we choose to extend the life of a garment, divert a piece from landfill and reduce the demand on fast, unethical and unsustainable production we’re making a small step to a more sustainable future. Join me in the movement, one soulful piece at a time. Let's redefine style with a conscience!

Making the shift to shopping preloved can be overwhelming, but once you do, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start earlier. I share lots of tips on where to start and how to thrift like a stylist in other blog posts, my workshops, group tours and through one on one sessions.
